About us
The University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau attached with Kerala Agricultural University came into existence on 23.11.1979. This is the joint venture of the University and National Employment Service (Kerala) Department. The Chief of the Bureau is nominated by the Vice Chancellor of the University and the Deputy Chief of the Bureau is an Employment Officer of National Employment Service (Kerala) Department nominated by the Director of Employment. Bureau is situated at Central Training Institute building in the Directorate of Extension of KAU situated at Mannuthy. It has one reading room with a career library consisting of career related reference books, English and Malayalam news papers, periodicals with up-to-date information of various competitive examinations, job applications, results of various examinations, etc are published. Several students are approaching the Bureau for availing the above facilities over these years the Bureau has made a mark for itself in organizing a range of programmes aiming at developing individual competencies in self-knowledge, educational and occupational exploration and career planning. The Bureau has been fairly successful in disseminating Occupational and Vocational Information to the student community both within the KAU campus and outside.

Major Activities
The objective of the Bureau is to provide career guidance (both individual and in groups) and is to disseminate occupational information to the student community and job seekers so as to enable them to qualify/seek the job they aspire. Bureau conducts coaching classes of various competitive examinations like UGC-NET/JRF, Bank Clerical/Probationary Officer Examinations, PSC, SSC, RRB, etc. The Bureau also conducts Soft Skill Training, Employability Enhancement Programmes, Personality Development Courses, Mock interviews etc in various colleges inside and outside the campus. The Bureau provides Career Guidance Talks to schools, colleges and other educational institutions regularly. Services offered are absolutely free of cost. Bureau conducts surveys to find out new era jobs.

Objectives of the bureau

• To give employment information and advice the University alumni.
• To give information on various courses of higher studies in India and abroad.
• To collect and disseminate occupational information, information regarding scholarships, fellowships training facilities, admission etc.
• To collect and disseminate Career-Guidance Literature, Magazine etc.to helps students in their Career Planning.
• To render Vocational Guidance to the students.
• To collect, disseminate and provide information on Competitive examinations conducted by the various Public Service Commissions, Staff Selection Commission etc.
• To prepare Employment –Guidance-Bulletin to help students in their Educational and Vocational Planning.
• To maintain Career Information Room in the Bureau.
• To organize Pre-Examination coaching scheme for some Competitive Examinations, with the assistance of the University.
• To get the enterprising Un-employed youths acquainted with the facilities and incentives under the SelfEmployment Scheme for the Registered Un-employed.
